Inverted Nipple
An inverted nipple is an irregularity in the nipples causing them to point inwards instead of the normal outward direction. This is a result from breast tissue that pinches the base of the nipple, limiting stretch and movement. It is estimated that 1 out of 10 men and women have inverted or “shy” nipples.
Inverted nipple surgery works by freeing the nipple from the surrounding tissue and re-stitching it to ensure it protrudes outward. Here's a brief outline of the procedure:
The surgeon makes a small cut around the base of the nipple.
The nipple is carefully separated from the underlying breast tissue that is causing it to invert.
The nipple is then repositioned to protrude outward.
The area is re-stitched to maintain the new position of the nipple.
Inverted nipple surgery works by freeing the nipple from the surrounding tissue and re-stitching it to ensure it protrudes outward. Here's a brief outline of the procedure:
The surgery aims to reshape the nipple and areola, allowing the nipple to project outward from the breast.
Enhances the appearance of the breast by correcting the inverted nipple, resulting in a more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing contour.
The procedure aims to preserve nipple sensitivity, ensuring that the nipple retains its tactile function.
Correcting inverted nipples can boost self-esteem and confidence, improving overall psychological well-being.
Improved nipple projection may also facilitate breastfeeding for some individuals by making it easier for the baby to latch onto the breast.
Corrects inverted nipples, improving the appearance of the breasts and creating a more natural, symmetrical look.
The cost of an inverted nipple procedure typically falls between RM 5000 to RM 12,000. However, this range can vary based on factors such as the complexity of the procedure and the extent of correction needed. More intricate corrections or extensive adjustments may lead to higher costs.
Inverted nipple surgery is generally a safe procedure, but patients may experience some side effects such as swelling and sensitivity in the immediate postoperative period, which usually resolve without issue. While rare, potential complications include bleeding and wound infection. The most significant risk is the recurrence of nipple inversion, which is most likely to occur 6 to 12 months after surgery. Choosing an experienced surgeon and adhering to post-operative care instructions can help minimize these risks.
