Rhinoplasty surgery is referred by some people as “nose job” or “nose reshaping”. It is to enhance facial harmony and the proportions of your nose, alter the size, shape and angle of your nose and bring it into better proportion with the rest of your face. It can also correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose.

Our expert surgeon can address problems such as hook nose, crooked nose, nose size, nasal asymmetry and bulbous tip.

    Endonasal Rhinoplasty: The Closed Approach

It is also called endonasal rhinoplasty, all of the surgical incisions are positioned inside encircle nearly half of the nostril lining, no part of the incision can be seen externally and a visible scar is avoided. However, because the right and left nostril incisions remain disconnected, repositioning of the nasal skin is difficult and the entire operation must be conducted through narrow surgical openings with limited surgical visibility. Because access to the nasal framework requires vigorous stretching of the nasal skin, distortion of the nasal cartilage is also inevitable. While a visible scar is prevented, considerable challenges and technical limitations are associated with the relative lack of surgical access. Hence, closed rhinoplasty merely refers to the relative lack of surgical exposure associated with the open approach.

    External Rhinoplasty: The Open Approach

Unlike the closed rhinoplasty, the open or external rhinoplasty approach employs a small bridging incision, called a trans-columellar incision, to connect the right and left nostril incisions. In exchange for this 4-5 mm visible segment, the nasal skin can be folded upward and unimpeded visibility of the lower nasal skeleton can be achieved. In addition, to direct visibility of almost the entire nasal framework, distortion of the nasal cartilage, is minimized and individual components can be evaluated in their natural, undisturbed alignment. Thus, the hallmark of the open rhinoplasty is the vastly improved surgical access permitted by the trans-columellar incision.

Rhinoplasty is suitable for male and female.

    Advantages of Rhinoplasty :

    1. Balance

Sometimes a nose can be a distracting feature on a person’s face. A particular appearance of a nose may result in an imbalance between the face and nose.

    2. Improved Nasal Airflow

Various structures within the nose can contribute to issue with breathing and airflow through the nose. A septoplasty is often performed in conjunction with a rhinoplasty to straighten a crooked nose and septum, improving both the appearance of the nose and the flow of air.

    3. Self-image and confidence

You can now be confident! If you are suffering from self-esteem and self-image issues because of constant bullying, positive changes to the appearance of the nose can provide a person with a huge boost in confidence after rhinoplasty.

    The procedure:

    1. Anesthesia

Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Our surgeon will recommend the best choice for you.

    2. The incision

Incisions are hidden inside the nose, or an open procedure, where an incision is made across the columella, the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. Through these incisions, the skin that covers the nasal bones and cartilages is gently raised, allowing access to reshape the structure of the nose.

    3. Reshaping the nose structure

An overly large nose may be reduced by removing bone or cartilage. The partition in the middle of the nose, is used for this purpose. Occasionally cartilage from the ear or rarely a section of rib cartilage can be used.

    4. Correcting a deviated septum

If the septum is deviated, it can be straightened and the projections inside the nose reduced to improve breathing.

    5. Closing the incision

Once the underlying structure of the nose is sculpted to the desired shape, nasal skin and tissue is red-raped and incisions are closed.

You will see the results in a few days, as splints and gauze packing may support the nose as it begins to heal
